Q-BASE 2006 – 16 HOURS DAY & NIGHT
On 9 September 2006, Q-dance is organizing the third Q-BASE festival at Weeze on the Dutch-German border. This strategically located former military airfield has now established itself as one finest festival sites in Europe. It is situated in wooded surroundings, with the bunkers, storage facilities and hangars making perfect venues for a series of dance areas. And after last year's success, Q-BASE 2006 has been reforged in a new, bigger and better form.
For the first time in Q-BASE history, the event this year will last a full 16 hours. This is divided into an evening session between 16:00 and midnight, following immediately by a nighttime session lasting until 08:00. The fact that this is the longest festival ever held by Q-dance will come as music to the ears of fans. Instead of having to head home at around midnight, they will now be to party until well past dawn. For those without their own transport, there will be good links to the public transport system.
As a platform for the hardest dance styles, Q-BASE 2006 is going to be rawer, broader, deeper, more progressive and more varied than ever before. The musical programming on 9 September covers the whole dance spectrum, including such genres as Hardcore, Oldstyle, Techno, Hardstyle, Psychedelic Trance, Minimal, Drum ’n Bass, Hardtrance, Hardhouse, Early Rave and Jumpstyle. As well as the main hangar, an outdoor stage and three bunkers, there will also be areas hosted by leading record labels: Scantraxx, Fusion (both Hardstyle), Babaorum, Jumper Records (both jump style), Prospect (drum ’n' bass) and The Third Movement (Industrial Hardcore and Techno).
Each of the two sessions has its own programming, with different line-ups in each area before and after midnight. But Q-dance has not opted for a traditional day-night distinction, with the hardest styles only on offer in the early hours. This means that fans of hardcore, for example, can enjoy their favourite music in the open air during the evening session and then later in Bunker 5, where The Third Movement will be holding the reins from midnight. If you prefer the ‘old’ sound, you can check out Hardstyle from '01 and '02 in the Hangar early on, then Early Hardcore on the outdoor stage during the nighttime session. Another big difference compared with the original Q-BASE set-up is that most of the more than 80 artists and acts will be spending a full two hours in the DJ booth, giving them more time to present a full and balanced set.
