    Hiya Guys,

I am writing an essay for Uni about music festivals and the shift in the culture from the yee olde days of Woodstock to the move to commercialism of events like the Big Day Out and now what appears to be a swing back towards a festival with a message, such a Defqon with it re-use/recycle message.

Does anyone have any insight or resources they would like to share or know of any good examples of other message filled festivals?

    Cheers guys!

Not sure if Defqon would go too well with your Uni assesment but I support what you doing and good on u having a go at doing a report on Defqon.1

Maybe watching the latest Australian Trailer, past trailers, and try wiki pedia for more information. Theres a lot of details on the Q Dance website and im sure you'll do just fine brainstorming some ideas into your new report :)

    Good luck!

ohh and the only reason I say it "might" not go down to well, is the fact that the every day joe in this society wouldnt know or has even heard about Defqon. Its huge in the Netherlands and you pretty much need to be in the 'scene' or rave scene to know what it is or about. Thankfully Q-Dances advertising and marketing is extradionary and the word is starting to get out quick about Defqon and or any Q-Dance event. After just one event here last year - Its like our new Big Day Out (were totally hooked!)

Probably one of the best day of my life, at last years defqon. Truely amazing experience. Will never forget it and im sure most of us will treasure those memories.

Cant wait for this year. Even though its back again - we will always remember it from last year cause it was the first ever debut of Defqon here in Australia. And its something that we have been wanting and wishing for, for years and we finally got it. Unbelievable!

    well to be honoust ...
defqon was special in there early years. im afraid it became to commercial. to many day-people visit this event. i was on the first defqon edition, but now its to massive. specially the ticketp-sale is a big joke last years. so prefer other q-dance events for being special

Hey guys, the latest promo release - the Defqon fest times was a real help, the page on the environment and the work of artist helped me prove that Defqon is more than just a quick money making affair and the promoters really do care about whats around them and making the event special for the attendess.
Another point i made in my essay is that the festival relies heavily on the notion of 'Brotherhood' by encouraging different subcultures of the whole rave scene to come together. Defqon is the dance fan Mecca.

also if not to late q-dance puts alot of faith into there fans, and followers. eg ambassadors. they are fans that go out and premote the event's them self. i think thats a point that seperates q-dance events from other event .. OTHER than the music and eviroment. :D :D also WOOT DEFQON IN SEPTEMBER :P :P

    Hi guys,

    Here a dutchi
I've been to all the Defqon Festivals (in Holland). I haven't mist a one...
It makes it so special, because the make it special. When you are there, you forget there is an world with problems and things happening you don't want to know.
Every year it's well organized. I saw the party grow from 10.000 people to 45.000 people nowadays. But even now it is so huge, and you have to walk more than 1,5 miles to get to the other end of the festival, they manage to keep it small. When you walk around, you can't tell there are so many people. It's like they organized it for yourself and en the small group people around you.

Next year I am planning to come to Australia to visit Defqon and have my holiday.... A real geography has it's needs to visit Australia... COOL!

ps 1. Did you know the Dutch had a big influence in Australia? For example, Arnhem Land is called after the city I live in; Arnhem.
ps 2. Tasmania is discovered by Abel Tasman, also a dutchman.

Therefor we are connected en thats why we love the same music!!! :)
