Defqon.1 Australia 2010: location, line-up, theme?

one of the medics at DEFQON was saying that most of the ppl that needed medical attention were mainly from VIC. i do think its slack for the melb ravers not having the chance to experience it. q-dance put its foot down but the victorians deserve a second chance dont u think?
at the end of the day no matter what event,venue or scene it is, there will always be ppl going overboard and out of control.

I went to Sensation in 2008 - the first one - i didnt like it at all - Defqon was 1000x better in every way.
Alex Kidd's set was the best set. of all time. ever. Really enjoyed that.

There should really only be 1 Defqon event in Aus. Besides, having it in Sydney is more of an adventure for the people from Melbourne, and weeds out the small percentage of people who only go to events to get fucked up and ruin it for everyone else. However, I think the G problem in Melbourne has been overexagerated slightly and the majority of the Melbourne scene do deserve their events back.

It would be good if maybe they could alternate Defqon between Sydney and Melbourne each year since a lot of people in melbourne are missing out. there are g-heads that are going to bring the stuff in regardless of if the event is held in melb/syd.

im from meblourne and would have loved to have gone to Defqon/X-Qlusive last year but none of my mates cbf/had the money to fly or drive up to sydney for it.

I agree with Tim D, I dont think there should be more than one Defqon1, it would ruin the unique/one off experience that Defqon1 is supposed to be. Whether in Sydney or Melbourne, I dont think there should be two. Then there is the question, Melbourne or Sydney? I dont think there could be a more peferct location than the Regatta center in Penrith, Sydney, its perfect.

it be easier for some if it was in melb, but i spose just having it in one state adds a little more adventure/excitement to the trip. it didnt effect the amount of fun i had in 09!!

i wouldnt mind seeing more impressive stage layouts for other arenas (they were all kinda dwarf'd by the amazingness of the red)

cant wait for defqon 1 2010 i think after last years performance the regatta centre has become the home of defqon in aus couldnt picture it anywhere else and there is still a shitload of room to expand on that island
as for the theme make an aussie theme with main stage bein a giant aussie coat of arms with a giant kangaroo and emu on either side with a massive q-dance or defqon logo in the middle lol.... who cares what the theme is its still gunna be insane

DEFQON.1 was a great event @ Syd Int Reg Cntr but I'm not too sure about trying to fit in more stages in the existing space: I guess where the helipad was, and near the seating at the eastern end of the island...

Will almost certainly make the trip over from Perth again, took some great photos for inthemix.com.au last time around, had an awesome day - even though I'm not the biggest hardstyle fan by any stretch! Hopefully the party will be more uniquely Australian too in the setup

Each year more and more people will be going to Defqon.. I think just about everyone that when to Defqon1 '09 will go to Defqon1 '10.. Plus there is a shitload of new 18year olds that will show up, and also people that missed out lastyear..

Defqon1 should only be on once a year, in one location.. If that location be be moved around every few year maybe that would solve the problem of people who bitch about the location..

The Regatta Centre was an awesome venue for Defqon.1, I can't imagine it anywhere else. Awesome place, not too close, not too far, not to hot nor cold. Worked out beautifully.

Bring back the Party Island.

I dont think they will move it. Its clearly has found 'its' home here in Sydney and what better venue then the Regatta Center. After the absolute success of Defqon.1 last year. Why would Q-Dance want to move it or change it anyway possible?

the scene in Melbourne is destroyed and will never recover, those who want to go for the music, will travel regardless or where it is.

I travelled from New Zealand to go to Defqon 1 ... an it was the best and i will be going it again this year :-)

an i do have to agree, Defqon has made its home at Sydney Regg Centre for sure.

well the regatta centre was awsome as it was like an island almost......and i think we could cram another 5000 ppl on lol! i live in perth and would fly anywere australia to go to defqon1 2010. as for artists.......................SHOWTEK!!!

It seems some Melbournians are a little dillusional. Their population is only 2/3 of Sydney's, if that. Just from a pure marketing perspective the clear winner is Sydney. From Q-dance's perspective why cut their potential earnings by a third? Also if you look at the history of Q-dance events, they're is only one of each type, held in each country, per year. Another point to make is in regards to international tourists. Almost everyone in the world knows Sydney, but only a small percentage of ever heard of Melbourne. Lets face it, the majority of Australia's icons are in Sydney. There is much less to offer in Melbourne. May sound harsh guys but in reality those are just the facts. When i lived in Holland, alot of events were in Amsterdam. An hour or so from the southern side. We didn't winge and complain, because pure and simple the event is worth it. If these events really mean so much to you a cheap 1 and a half hour flight should mean nothing.

Plus, Melbourne is s@#!, i live here and i can openly say that. Not to mention the weather is terrible.

Yeah the regatta center is large enough, should take it to at least 1700 this year, so glad im gonna be 18 in time, missed out last time, but didnt miss a beat on Q-Dance Radio with Jeff-E, even got a shout out to my friend. But they should definately get showtek down here, also D-Block and S-Te-Fan, Tatanka..and some Australian artists.

it should stay in sydney... only other good place imo would be centenial park for the venue...

I think the event should still be held only in Sydney - just One massive amazing party in a sunny climate!

I would Love to see more Hardcore!! - Angerfist, Evil Activities, Outblast, Scott Brown, Ophidian, Endymion, DJ Paul, Base Alert, Dione, Tha Playah, Panic, Neophyte, Korsakoff, Art of Fighters and Tommyknocker... would all tear the Black Stage apart

Hardcore room last year went off, and this year its only gonna get better. You just have to look at Defqon.1 each year for the Netherlands only to see it DOES get better every year. Q-Dance thrive on making the ultimate party for everyone and thats their passion.

Whatever Q-Dance party we attend, its sure to excellence!
